Things are looking rosy for the horticulture industry with some key markets easing restrictions on travel, helping lift shipment of flowers. The Kenya Flower Council says demand for horticultural produce now stands at 3,500 tons per week but the available cargo capacity is 1,300 tons due to grounding of flights across the world. But this is changing as airlines turn passenger planes into cargo planes. A move that has seen Emirates introduce twice-weekly dedicated cargo flights on its passenger aircraft between Nairobi to Dubai.
