Bible 101 Class - PSALM 110:1–4; ACTS 2:22–24, 29–32 by Dr. Ernest Polk. This is a brief overview and not a complete lesson of the Church of God in Christ Sunday School Lesson. Click to view, subscribe, and share. Psalms 110 is by David. It starts with the confirmation “the” Lord. This use of the definite article tells us that this is the supreme Lord, God, and Elohim. “My” Lord, gives the personal possessive pronoun relationship between Jesus and his people he saved from their sins, reconciling man back to God. “Sit” means settle to marry. As God was married to Israel, Christ is married to the church. “Right hand” is power side. Christ sits and rules in power of God. Enemy is the adversary which adversary is used to describe Satan/Devil. “Footstool” means to stamp/stomp. This fulfills Gods words to Eve that the seed of woman (virgin birth of Christ) would stomp Satan’s head. Christ foot would be wounded suffering death on the cross, and nails in his feet. However, he was resurrected with all power holding the keys to both hell and death standing on the head of Satan/Devil in victory. The Rod is the staff of life out of Zion, which is the mountain/high setting of Jerusalem also the city of David. The Rod/branch of life through God’s covenant to rule in the midst of adversaries/the evil of the world. “Thy” people, personal possessive pronoun shall be spontaneous in the power of the spirit of Jesus. Holy. Declared Holy by his salvation to live in Holiness by his spirit. Holiness is describe as the birth of the morning comparable to pre-morning resurrection of the Sun (Ancient African Theology) with the Holy Spirit giving us the covering of rebirth and newness in God. As the sighing of a strong breathe, God will and has “completed” it. His original breathe gave life and the breathe of his covenant’s fulfilment gives life again to those that now have a interceding high priest in the order of the king of righteousness (Priest and King) providing grace and by grace we are saved. Peter, approximately 1000 years later, filled with the Holy Ghost on the day of Pentecost, confirmed that Jesus came in the midst of the adversary, did miracles, signs, and wonders in the power of God. David spoke of him as his Lord on his right hand of power fulfilling the covenant relationship with him and God. Jesus, God’s sacred one, was raised uncorrupted by death. Christ was raised to sit on the throne being in the order of Melchizedek both king and priest (see David put on the ephod to bring in the Ark of the Covenant). Through God’s salvation in Christ Jesus; Act 2:33 “Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.” By his spirit, we are all witnesses of the promises of God fulfilled in us by our savior Jesus Christ, the son of the living God, the Son of David, the eternal priest and only sacrifice for our redemption back to God. 1Jn 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. 1Jn 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 1Jn 3:3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
