Refugees Try New Route Police have registered about 150 refugees who’ve entered the country from Serbia. The government says it’s come up ‘w ith an emergency plan in case of an influx of thousands of refugees. Earlier on Wednesday, Hungary closed its border with Serbia to ‘protect’ what Prime Minister Viktor Orban called a ‘Christian way of life.’ And on Tuesday, Budapest declared a state of emergency in two counties along its border with Serbia. It happened as new laws to curb the influx of refugees came into effect. Police are now allowed to detain asylum seekers who try to cross the razor wire fence Hungary has built along its southern border. Rally in Support of PM Thousands of people held a rally in the capital Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday in support of Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak. Supporters included several members of the governing United Malay National Organisation party. In late August, many Malaysians protested against Najib, accusing him of financial mismanagement.They demanded the government resign over a corruption scandal after $700 million dollars were found in the prime minister’s personal bank account. Flash Floods in Utah Rescue operations continue after a flash flood hit a town in Utah, south of Salt Lake City.At least 16 people were killed and one person is still missing. The flooding hit two areas-- a small polygamist community and a national park. The National Weather Service had issued a flash flood warning on Monday. But authorities say the polygamists may not have received the warning because they don’t use TV or the Internet due to their religious beliefs. IMF Approves $11.8M in Aid The International Monetary Fund has approved 11.8 million dollars in financial aid to support the country’s emergency economic recovery programme. Central African Republic is set to hold general elections in late October. But the interim government has reported it’s behind in preparations and may have to postpone them.
