Her Voice, Ada Lovelace

Why is March the best month of the year?? It’s UK Women’s History Month, International Women’s Day AND my birthday. All equally important, of course. In the spirit of this fantastic time of year, I’m going to focus the next few episodes of ‘Her Voice’ on women STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) - woefully male-dominated sectors. Role-modelling is such a fundamental tool in rectifying this, and it’s not as though you have to look very hard. Women have made ground-breaking contributions in science and engineering quite literally since ancient times, so let’s shout about their achievements. So, let me introduce a woman who deserves so much more fame than she’s achieved as the daughter of an irresponsible Romantic poet....
