Coronavirus outbreak: Ousted HHS official Rick Bright testifies on whistleblower complaint | FULL

Dr. Rick Bright, the federal scientist and whistleblower who pushed back against President Donald Trump's endorsement of hydroxychloroquine to treat the coronavirus testified to Congress of the 'grave risks' of rushing to reopen U.S. on Thursday. The House Committee on Energy and Commerce's health subcommittee heard from Bright, who until last month served as director of the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, which is responsible for developing drugs to fight the coronavirus outbreak. Asked by U.S. Representative for Maryland John Sarbanes about a 'sinking feeling' he's experienced during the coronavirus outbreak, whistleblower and federal scientist Rick Bright on Thursday pointed to a January email he received informing him that the N-95 mask supply was "completely decimated, and he said we are in deep sh*t, the world is." Bright said the United States could face "the darkest winter" of recent times if it does not improve its response to the pandemic. The whistleblower says he was removed as director of a government research office because he raised concerns about coronavirus preparedness and access to hydroxychloroquine. “When I spoke outside of the government and shared my concern with the American public, that I believe was the straw that broke the camels back and escalated my removal,” Bright said.
