July 10th, 1943: US Army 82nd Airborne Division was dropped into the town of Adanti as part of Operation Husky to liberate the island of Sicily, Italy. The invasion marked the first combat jump of the 82nd Airborne Division and proved to be a disastrous FUBAR. The Airborne Division suffered severe casualties from friendly fire and the uncoordinated jump. But their training and perseverance saw them through their Baptism by Fire.
