This is the story of Josef Allerberger, a young Austrian farmer's son who fought as a sniper in the German Wehrmacht during World War II. With 257 confirmed kills, he is considered the Wehrmacht's second-best sniper after Matthäus Hetzenauer. From a simple machine gunner, Allerberger rose through wounding, chance, and talent to become a feared sniper on the Eastern Front. His memoirs reveal the brutal reality of war, far removed from heroism and morality. After the war, he returned to his homeland, worked as a carpenter, and lived a secluded life. Josef Allerberger died in Austria in 2010. Resource Links / snipers-of-the-east ⚠️ DISCLAIMER 🚨 This video is for educational and historical purposes only.
