WEST CHESTER, Ohio (WKRC) -- A 14-hour standoff standoff in West Chester ended with an arrest. Police took Heath Richards, 35 into custody. Police say a woman went to get some belongings from a home on Canal Way at 6:30 p.m., June 28. She was escorted by an officer. Her estranged husband was there and police say he pointed a gun at the officer. The officer and the woman backed out of the house and called in the SWAT team. Officers say Richards blocked some entrances of the mobile home to keep them out. SWAT officers tossed in a gas canister but he didn't surrender. They then tried two different robots to get a good view of him. The second robot spotted several weapons and a lot of ammunition. Eventually Richards came out on his own at about 8:30 a.m. Some nearby homes were evacuated during the standoff. Richards is charged with felonious assault, inducing panic and obstructing official business. Follow us on Twitter @Local12 and LIKE us on Facebook for updates!
