Hundreds participated in the funeral procession, chanting slogans as the bodies were carried through the streets. Two television cameramen were also wounded in the attack, Palestinian officials and residents said. Early on Monday four Palestinian militants were killed in an Israeli airstrike on central Gaza, Palestinian doctors said. The four men were standing on a street in the Shajaiyeh neighbourhood of Gaza City when a missile hit them, witnesses said. An Israeli army spokesman said that troops operating in the area shot and killed three armed Palestinians in an exchange of fire. He did not know of a fourth man killed. Israeli troops have been operating in Shajaiyeh since Saturday. Speaking at the Cabinet's weekly meeting in Gaza Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh condemned Israel's air strikes. "The Palestinian government condemns the savage massacres committed by the occupation forces in Gaza Strip and the West Bank, which are committed daily in each area," he said. A fifth Palestinian was shot and killed near the southern Gaza town of Rafah, according to witnesses and hospital officials. Salama Abu Adwan was returning home when he was shot by an Israeli tank that was shooting at empty agricultural fields near the closed Gaza airport, where Israeli troops had been operating for 10 days, a witness and hospital officials said. The army said it was looking into the incident. Also in southern Gaza, Hamas gunmen shot a motorist who refused to stop at a roadblock, witnesses said. The gunmen said they came under fire from the approaching car and returned fire. The violence came as Israeli soldiers - backed by two dozen tanks, two bulldozers, helicopters and unmanned aerial drones - combed an area just inside the Gaza Strip in what the army said was a search for "terror infrastructure," particularly tunnels. In Israel on Monday family and friends of Corporal Gilad Shalit, an Israeli soldier captured by Hamas on June 25, marked his 20th birthday.
