🛫 About the New Terminal • Officially inaugurated on July 26, 2025, coinciding with the Maldives’ 60th Independence Day celebrations.  • Built to replace the older terminal gradually, in a phased transition.  • Terminal area: ~ 78,000 square meters  • Designed capacity: up to 7 million+ passengers per year (some sources mention 7.5 million)  • The current/old terminal was originally built to serve ~1 million passengers annually, which means this new facility is a major upscaling.
