Quick gampad FX comparison in Assetto Corsa

Thought I'd do a little comparison in control with the Gamepad FX functions in CSP. From what I have seen the gamepad FX is trying to give a simulated system similar to FFB in wheels. i.e. the wheels turn to where the physics dictates. As someone who plays on a wheel and has moved to gamepad due to travelling more I always got a bit annoyed at the absolute nature of the wheels tracking the stick position, or, the game just steering (in drift) for you by using some steering 'assist' mechanics. Drift21 did it somewhat different where the vehicles wheels responded differently to vehicle movement combined with the gamepad inputs. And shortly after that CSP added the Gamepad FX options. After a few experiments I have gone with the 'Basic' script for the gamepad fx. I find that it allows for more realistic wheel control from the physics without overriding your gamepad inputs etc. Some of the scripts pretty much replicated CarX's assist where you simply turn 'into' the drift and the assist script does the steering for you. End results as above are the fine movement is a lot smoother but it doesn't stop you from spinning out or simply crashing with bad control. Ultimately it does not make me a much better drifter but I feel it does give me more realistic control. YMMV :) Madrax573
