India's service sector activity moderated further in January as growth in new businesses slowed. The services PMI slumped to 51.5% in January, marking the slowest expansion in six months. The continued slump comes on the back of a variety of factors including the onslaught of the third covid wave, fresh restrictions, inflationary pressures and sluggish consumer demand. While the rest of the sectors in the economy see a consistent recovery, sectors including services, MSME and informal sectors are still struggling.
