Scouting And Hunting INSIDE of BUCK BEDDING Areas with Steve Sherk

In this video Chad follows Pennsylvania native, Steve Sherk, around the big woods of Pennsylvania for some post season scouting. Steve is a very sought after guy when it comes to PA bucks so we decided to follow him around for a day and pick his brain. This video is all about how Steve scouts, and plans to hunt inside the bedding areas of these PA big woods bucks. When it comes to finding big woods buck beds, it is a tall task. Steve likes to focus on hemlock trees because they offer protection from the elements and make the perfect bed for a mature buck. Once he finds a bed, he will walk every entry and exit route he can find leading to food sources or scrapes. (Point A to Point B) He will hang however many cameras he can on those entry and exit routes, if theres 5 trails he will hang 5 cameras. Now, when it comes to hunting bucks this close to their beds it is pivotal to have good entry and exit yourself. If your entry is loud, theres a good chance that buck will hear you and be gone before you even know you're close. In this case Steve is using an old logging road that is mostly clear of loud sticks and brush to slip into his stand location. Steve also likes to pick out the tree he is going to hunt way in advance of actually hunting it. That way when the right conditions arise, he can slip in undetected more efficiently.
