Let's Play Super Mario World - Part 12: The Dark Caves of Darkness

Huh. Chocolate Island and Valley of Bowser didn't have as many secrets left to find as I'd expected, I guess. There's still some stuff here, though. There is also plenty of opportunity to make mistakes; I actually had to cut several minutes of the video due to accidentally screwing myself over trying to get the secret exit in Valley of Bowser 4. The secret exit of Chocolate Island 2 is in one of the sublevels. It's easy to get once you know how, but it's probably easier to find by accident the first time. The easiest way I've found to do it is to get no coins at all, then hurry through the rest of the sublevel and the next one. There is a formula for figuring out exactly which sublevel you will get, though. Chocolate Secret is another underground stage, loaded with Chucks, Buzzy Beetles, and Spike Tops. It's probably one of the more interesting underground levels, but that's not saying much. The secret exit to Valley of Bowser 2 is in the final area; you have to fly up onto the roof with a cape. This will take you to Valley Fortress, the last fortress of the game and probably the shortest. It has lots of the large spikes first seen in Wendy's castle, and it leads to the "back door" of Bowser's Castle. Valley Ghost House also has a secret exit, and it's one of the most annoying to get in the game (in my opinion)...you have to take the last door in the hallway, carry the P-switch over to the right half of the room and hit it, and then maneuver the directional-coins-turned-brown-blocks over to a 1-tile-high opening where the keyhole is. And after that, all it does is let you skip Valley of Bowser 3 and 4 and go directly to Larry's Castle. Blah. The secret exit of Valley of Bowser 4, which leads to the fifth Star Road warp (it may also let you skip Larry's Castle if you haven't beaten it yet, but I've never tested that), is easy to FIND, but can be tricky to GET; you have to keep Yoshi until the very end of the stage, which is harder than you'd think with so many things ready to dump you into the lava. Well, since Bowser's Castle doesn't count toward the 96-exit total, that takes care of everything...except the two bonus worlds, which are coming next! I wanted to complete the game in a month, but now there's no way that will happen. At least I completed the main part of it.
