My first attempt at creating a muzzle flash effect in Adobe After Effects, thrown together in 10 minutes. There are lots of little tweaks to be added to finish it nicely - not to mention actually timing it to the trigger pulls! The three components are; -The muzzle flash layer, randomizing the size and opacity each shot. -The smoke layer, this lasts 3 frames, and moves upwards, shrinks and becomes more transparent over those frames. -The lighting up of the surroundings (shooter's face, ground around the end of the barrel).
