Nick Bosa ejected for targeting vs. Iowa

This rule is one that seems to strike the nerve of many football fans every weekend. In the late stages of the second quarter during the Ohio State-Iowa game on Saturday, Buckeyes defensive end Nick Bosa was trying to affect Iowa quarterback Nathan Stanley’s pass on third-and-8 from Ohio State’s 40-yard line.Stanley ended up throwing the ball away because he was getting pressured from all sides.Toward the end of the throw, however, Bosa leaned forward as he was trying to get at Stanley. That is when helmet-to-helmet contact took place, drawing a flag for roughing the passer and targeting. After review, Bosa was called for targeting, not only giving the Hawkeyes a first down and a free 15 yards, but the standout pass rusher also was ejected from the game.Take a look: Nick Bosa ejected for targeting. Can't argue with the call.pic.twitter.com/ftOWk8BI2N — Eleven Warriors (@11W) November 4, 2017 Was the call on the field correct? Absolutely.Should Bosa be ejected for the remainder of the game for a play like this? That is up for debate. One play later, Iowa scored on a 25-yard touchdown pass, giving the Hawkeyes a 24-17 lead.
