Ep 19 Newterra Watertime Post

A chemical manufacturing customer in Eastern Ontario uses ion exchange softeners to treat river water for use in their process and power plant but desired improved water quality for boiler makeup. Newterra designed a self-contained 2-stage Reverse Osmosis water treatment system to provide 100 US gpm of low conductivity treated water. Clean-In-Place was not a preferred solution as it would require cleaning chemical handling at site. Instead, the customer chose to purchase a spare set of RO Membranes and will have the membranes cleaned as required using an off-site service. The treatment system was supplied as a compact skid mounted package which included Reverse Osmosis with chemical dosing of sodium bisulfite for free-chlorine reduction, antiscalant to control scaling potential of the feed water as well as cartridge filtration. All equipment was pre-mounted, piped, wired and tested before shipment. Integral PLC controls with a skid-mounted color graphic display completed the package.
