Pakistan faces one of its worst flooding emergencies as nearly 1 million people and 780,000 animals have been evacuated from Punjab. Floodwaters from the Ravi, Sutlej, and Chenab rivers have already affected more than 2.4 million people in 3,200 villages. Authorities warn the crisis will worsen, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasting heavy rains in Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi, and other cities. Punjab PDMA has issued a red alert for “very high to exceptionally high” floods in the Chenab between September 4–5. In Sindh, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah says up to 1.3 million cusecs of water could reach Guddu Barrage, sparking mass preparations and relief efforts. Officials warn Pakistan must act on climate resilience, not short-term fixes. #PakistanFloods #Punjab #Sindh #ClimateCrisis #Pakistan #FloodUpdate #BreakingNews #RaviRiver #ChenabRiver #SutlejRiver #DisasterRelief #ClimateChange #PakistanNews #Floods2025 #Evacuations --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dawn News English is your window into the latest news, insight, and features from South Asia and beyond.
