While the game starts in Georgia, the setting quickly moves to more northern locales as survivor's head towards Michigan, believing there is a large survivor camp there called Wellington. The second season follows Clementine, a young girl who survived the walker apocalypse thanks to Lee Everett. At the start of the outbreak, Lee protects Clementine and helps her search for her parents, who had gone to Savannah, joining several survivors along the way. Before Lee's group can leave Savannah, Clementine is abducted by a stranger claiming to have her parents. In his attempt to find her, Lee is bitten. Realizing he doesn't have much time left, Lee and his remaining group set out to rescue her. Lee is eventually separated from his group and chooses to continue to Marsh House and confront the Stranger House alone. Lee manages to successfully rescue Clementine from the Stranger, and the two try to leave the city. They soon discover that her parents have already turned into walkers when trying to leave. Lee soon succumbs to the bite and passes out. Upon regaining consciousness and realizing he has little time left, he asks Clementine to shoot him to prevent reanimation. Clementine shoots her friend and manages to escape the city by herself, reaching the outskirts. With the loss of Lee Everett and almost everyone else she could call a friend bearing down on her mind, Clementine continues to make the best of a life that gives new meaning to pain.
