In this tutorial I show you how to update NVIDIA graphics card drivers. To update your NVIDIA drivers you can use the NVIDIA app, or you can manually download the driver. Using the NVIDIA app is typically better as it will automatically detect your GPU and search for updates. This ensures you only get the correct driver for your PC or laptop. Because you will want to update your NVIDIA graphics card drivers often the app makes it easier to update in the future. Additionally, the NVIDIA app also has other useful features that you can use. When installing the NVIDIA app you will need to choose what graphics drivers you want to use. The options are Game Ready Drivers and Studio Drivers. The game ready drivers are released more often, and are ideal for gaming. Often, game ready drivers will be release around the time of big games to allow users to make use of features, and optimize the drivers for the new game. Meanwhile, Studio Drivers are typically more stable builds with the intention of being for creatives, such as video editors. If you play games then the Game Ready drivers are usually the best bet, even if you also edit videos. Once you have the NVIDIA app you can go to the Drivers page and any new drivers will be shown here. If you don’t see the option to download new drivers then you can click on the refresh button to search for updated drivers. When you have a graphics card driver update you will need to click on the Download button to download the update. Once done you will then need to click the Install button to begin updating your NVIDIA graphics drivers. When installing new drivers you will have the choice between Express Installation and Custom Installation. Although a custom installation can be useful, you will typically want to select Express Installation as it’s more straight forward. After selecting your installation method you will then need to click the Continue button to update NVIDIA drivers. The process may take awhile. If you have already installed the newest NVIDIA driver then instead of seeing a download button you will see an option to reinstall the drivers. If you have the reinstall option then you already have the newest graphics driver for your GPU. Another option is to manually update your NVIDIA drivers by searching for them on the NVIDIA website. You can do this by going to the Drivers page. You will need to input your system and graphics card information to ensure you get the correct drivers. Due to this it’s typically better to use the NVIDIA app as it will automatically detect what graphics card you have and what drivers you need.
