Game: Final Fantasy VI Port: Steam ANTI-NORM RULES ================ Active Mode No Ultima/Quick No Phantom Rush No Valiant Knife/Ultima Weapon No Master's Scroll/Dragon Horn In the town of Maranda, a man will tell you about a giant cactus that roams the desert south of Maranda. If you go to the desert, you will encounter Slagworms and Cactuar. Cactuar have only 3 HP,, but make up for it with maximum defenses and near perfect Evasion stats. You will need to use unavoidable, armor piercing attacks in order to defeat them. To make things easier, I went with Ahriman (Roulette, ignores your allies for targeting) as neither monster is Deathproof. Once you slay 10 Cactuar, you step on an exact tile in the desert to face the boss, Gigantuar. Slaying it yields the Cactuar Magicite, your only source of +2 Speed. PLAN ===== This Cactuar has near perfect Defenses and Evasion and will attack with 1000 Needles every turn twice. Every 3 turns however, it upgrades this to 4. With 77 speed, it can attack quite frequently, so you will need Hastega to combat this. If you find a way to harm it, it will counter with Takedown (Attack x 5, does ~2500 damage to non Snow Scarf characters). When slain, it will fire off 1000 Needles 10 times, primarily focusing on the character who killed it first. To mitigate the damage, arm all hands with Reraise. You will most likely lose 1 or 2 characters, but it is better than losing the battle to an oversized cactus. Gau pretty much did all the work this fight. It was a shame the glorious Gau Emperor had to die for my cause. This was the battle that really made me see how much Gau has truly done for me this playthrough.
