Body Roll with Opening the Airway, Prone Victim with 1 Rescuer This drill supports the Primary Assessment Progression drills. (Aquatics International, March 2014) Guidelines: Lifeguards are in 2-person teams, with a primary rescuer and a victim. No gloves at this time. Primary rescuer rolls the victim into the supine position while safely guarding the head, neck and back. NOTE: the victim is a non-spinal injury victim. Once the victim is on their back, the rescuer will move to open the victim's airway either with a head tilt/ chin lift or jaw thrust with head extension maneuver. This is an all pass drill, meaning all rescuers must complete the drill for the lifeguard team to receive a pass. This drill must be completed in 10 seconds. A 6-12 lifeguard team is preferred. Depending on size of staff, modify to accomodate needs.
