Sony's Losses: Time To Sell Spider-Man Back To Marvel?

I'm sure you saw the news of Sony Pictures posting a $86 million loss in Q1 loss in 2017. What do you think of the chances are that Sony would sell the movie rights to Spider-Man to Disney? If you recall, Sony sold the merchandising rights to Disney in 2011 for some cash. Could the movie rights be just around the corner due to their financial woes? What do you think? AJ Benzaken - Hey John, I'm a long time fan since the AMC days. My question is why have we not gotten a sequel to the 2008 action film Wanted. It's one of my favorite action/comic book movies of all time. It was very underrated and not talked about but it was incredibly fun and deserved a sequel. MrYazMan300 - Greeting John. I'm curious to see the Hellboy reboot movie because I love the director and actors involved, but I got worried when I found out that Millennium Films is producing the movie. This worries me because Millennium doesn't have a good track record. So are you ok with the movie despite the involvement of Millennium? Chris Corcoran - Hey, John. Do you think that Travis Knight's name will be shown in the trailers for the Bumblebee spinoff, or will it instead have Michael Bay's like the TMNT movies. I think that if they see Bay's name, it could turn people away. Dani Rivera - Hello John! It seems to me like Disney has lost the best opportunities to announce the upcoming Han Solo movie's title (Star Wars Celebration, D23, SDCC). When/how do you think they'll announce it? Seth Owen - Hey John, big Fan of yours! My question is about the Dark Tower movie. I just realized it opens this weekend. I checked Rotten Tomatoes to check its critic score, and there isn’t one yet, even though it opens in a few days. Is this a good sign that the movie will not be critically well received and will probably bomb?
