SMW Discord: / discord Discord: The_Unintended_Gamer This is my attempt at a tutorial explaining how to perform unintended exits in Super Mario World. Super Mario World is a glitchy game, allowing the player to go beyond what was intended by the game designers. Normally, there is a total of 96 exits in the game. Over the years, dedicated gamers discovered several unintended exits (https://pastebin.com/wqk0KfbM).Here, I want to perform a ‘new’ unintended exit using the Wrong Warp glitch in Chocolate Island 5. This route was setup up by MrCheeze (see • SMW Glitched Exit 108, using wrong warp an... ) with modifications. This route is normally used to get the so-called 108th exit. For this exit, the wrong warp glitch allows to enter the Special World Star Road tile #2. This unintended level is rendered as Rhino section of Chocolate Island 1. The 108th exit is obtained if you trigger an unintended secret exit there. The normal exit of the Special World Star Road 2 also add to an unintended exit, it is the so-called 100th exit. Usually, this exit is obtained by triggering an unintended secret exit in Funky, which leads to the activation of the normal exit of the following level, in this case the Special World Star Road 2. So, here I want to trigger a normal exit using the Orb after the wrong warp. This yields the 100th exit! Also, because Funky exit is not triggered, the game stays in Spring Mode. Funky unintended secret exit triggers the Autumn mode of SMW ( • SMW ǀ Unintended Exits ǀ Funky, secret exi... SMW, some ? blocks contain Yoshi’s wings. Grabbing those with Yoshi warps Mario to a bonus sky level. It is possible to unintendedly spawn Yoshi’s wings by duplicating a Block onto a Yoshi’s Coin. SMW has an internal counter that count how many times Mario passes through a pipe within a level. This counter has 256 possible values (from 0 to 255). Collecting Yoshi’s Wings is registered has two passes by this counter. If the counter is at 254 and we collect Yoshi’s Wings, then the counter will get back to value 0. When this happens, the game loads a level as if Mario was coming from the Overworld. The game selects the level where to wrongly warp Mario according to the presence of Blocks at specific locations within the original level. Here, I believe that MrCheeze ( / mrcheezemrcheeze ) found this setup. To alter the Block layout of the level, we use extensively block duplication. After going through pipes 254 times, we collect the Yoshi’s wing, warping Mario to another level, here the Special World Star Road 2. To do all this, we need infinite time using ACE ( • SMW ǀ Arbitrary Code Execution (ACE) ǀ Inf... for tutorial). This glitch requires a bit of Powerup Incrementation to get Mario at unintended PowerUp Status 5 and pixel perfect manipulation ( • SMW ǀ Unintended Powerup State (Powerup In... After dying to reset Mario’s Powerup Status, we obtain an Orb in the item box ( • SMW ǀ Unintended Item Spawning ǀ The Orb [... for tutorial). After dying again, we go to the cleared Chocolate Island 5 with the Cape. There, we go through the pipe near the checkpoint to go to the underground area and return to the main level 127 times. This will count as 254 pipe entries. Here, I use the coin counter to count how many pipe I’ve gone through. Every cycle, I eat a fish in the subworld. After 127 cycles, I grab the P-switch to duplicate Turn blocks to a specific position. Turn blocks underneath are destroyed to allow us to hit the specific Turn block. In addition, we need to duplicate a Turn block onto a Dragon Coin to spawn a unintended ?-Block containing Yoshi’s Wings. This Block contains either a Key, Yoshi’s Wing, a P-Balloon or a Green Shell. What the Block contains depends on the X-position of the Block, and give items in the same order. Here, the Dragon Coin ?-Block needs to be duplicated on the right side to obtain the Yoshi’s Wings. We need to collect Yoshi’s Wings when the specific Turn block is in its turning animation. After, we should be in the Special World Star Road 2, rendered as Chocolate Island 2. There, the Orb is spawn from the item box and the normal exit of the level is triggered. This is registered as a new exit in the game file :)!
