BHIMBETKA CAVE 13 & 14 : Boars and a live Snake!

Bhimbetka Caves are a breathtaking window into India's prehistoric soul—where art, myth, and archaeology collide across millennia. Here’s a quick dive into what makes them extraordinary: 📍 Location & Significance Situated in Raisen district, Madhya Pradesh, about 45 km southeast of Bhopal Nestled in the Ratapani Wildlife Sanctuary, surrounded by lush forests and sandstone outcrops Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2003 🖼️ Rock Art & Symbolism Over 750 rock shelters spread across seven hills—including Bhimbetka, Lakha Juar, and Auditorium Cave Paintings span from the Paleolithic to medieval periods, some dating back over 30,000 years Themes include: Hunting scenes, dancers, and geometric patterns Animals like bison, elephants, and horses Possible ritualistic or spiritual motifs, hinting at proto-religious beliefs 🧬 Cultural Echoes The art shows striking similarities to traditions of nearby tribal villages Some motifs resemble global prehistoric art—like those in Lascaux (France) and Kakadu (Australia) 🧙‍♂️ Mythological Connection The name “Bhimbetka” comes from Bhima, the mighty Pandava from the Mahabharata Local lore says Bhima rested here during exile—“Bhima’s seat” or Bhima’s lounge Script: I will upload the image as a community post and you can find them by panning and zooming. Regards Debojyoti There were 2 mistakes in my last video about cave 12, Bhola gilheri confused cave 12 with cave 8 also some parts were missed while rendering, anyways the missing parts are integrated to this video. As we arrive in the vicinity of cave thirteen onwards to boar cave we observe our ancestor's obsession with wild boars especially those with large tusks! What did they express? Did they just express hunting scenes as we can find multiple boars in cave 13 or they expressed stories from sanatan dharma. The history of evolution through the 10 Avtars of Vishnuji and his Varaha Avtar killing demon Hiranyaksha who is said to have submerged the earth, as we find evidence of the Vindyas and the Satpuras submerging especially from the National Fossils Park Ghugwa. A bit of interruption here as me and my covisitors got interested on a snake, this one not a painting but live, tried very hard to capture it on video for you my viewers but it was shy and sly. Boar Rock Shelter or cave 15 features a gigantic horned boar, far larger than any human figure nearby and looks like the giant boar is chasing a demon.More about that in the next video. Cave 13 Here paintings are visible at the highest points, 2 boars in 2 different cavities with one being miniature representation of the large boar of cave 15, men and yes more boars are shown on the lower part, and yes one of the boar seems decorated, who would decorate a boar? Unless you worship or perform any ritual. cave 14 But, as we move to cave 14 we find the boar has been hunted by the group of men, though the paintings have almost totally faded now. Was it a part of a story or just random emotions? lets find out as we move to cave 15 the famous boar rock shelter. #india #cavepaintings #minivlog #travel #nature #wildlife #forest #adventure #history bhimbetka caves tour hiking vlog cave edition mountain paintings of rock shelters of madhya pradesh tourism exploring underground documentary arts
