Rep. Jamie Raskin and Dr. Darrell Gray on young-onset colorectal cancer

Listen to Rep. Jamie Raskin describe his personal battle with young-onset colorectal cancer and then learn more about this issue from Dr. Darrell Gray of The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center. In October 2020, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force released new draft recommendations for colorectal cancer, giving a “B” recommendation for colorectal cancer screening for people of average risk ages 45-49 (there was previously no recommendation for this age group). In November 2020, twenty members of Congress joined with Reps. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) and Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) in a letter to the Department of Health and Human Services in support of these draft recommendations. The USPSTF has not yet finalized these draft recommendations. https://www.preventcancer.org/2020/12... The need for screening for people ages 45-49 is emphasized in the Prevent Cancer Foundation’s report, Gut Check: Young-Onset Colorectal Cancer in Your State. https://www.preventcancer.org/2020/08...
