The Bull’s Eye: New Modified Stem Cells Can Deliver Drugs Specifically to Tumor Cells

Finding effective cancer treatment methods is the need of the day. Targeted anti-cancer drug delivery to tumor microenvironments using carrier cells, albeit a promising therapeutic intervention, has limitations attributable to carrier cell viability and migratory ability. In a recent cutting-edge study, scientists at Tokyo University of Science have modified mesenchymal stem cells to deliver large quantities of potent anti-cancer drugs to tumor cells effectively, thereby opening up a new avenue for targeted cancer treatment.
