Ron Carter on the studio process for creating Miles' great albums
In my interview with Ron Carter for the Jazz Master Summit, I asked him to describe how he, Tony, Wayne, Herbie, and Miles developed those great albums like E.S.P., Miles Smiles, and Nefertiti in the studio. When he says that he's listened to those disks, he's referring to the Freedom Jazz Dance CD set that provides fly-on-the-wall recordings of the band's rehearsals within those original sessions. This was his response to my question.
