New bout of heavy smog smothers Eastern China

중국 수도권 또 스모그로 '몸살'… 베이징 기준치 20배 Eastern China continues to suffer its worst smog of the year. According to China's national weather agency, levels of PM two-point-five in parts of Beijing reached five-hundred-43 micrograms per cubic meter last night. That's more than 20 times higher than the World Health Organization's recommended maximum exposure. The figure is also higher than when Beijing issued two red smog alerts earlier this month. However, the authorities only issued a yellow alert this time, the second highest alert in the country's four-tier system. Other parts of China are also being affected by the new round of heavy smog, including Tianjin, and the neighboring province of Hebei. A cold front is expected to gradually disperse the smog later on Wednesday, before it gets worse from Thursday.
