Transcript: On Monday August 14, 2017, while filming sequences for Deadpool 2 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, stuntwoman Joi “S.J.” Harris was killed when she lost control of her Ducati motorcycle. The accident occurred at approximately 8:20 am, after Harris had already completed the stunt a few times. Deadpool 2 was the first movie on which Harris was working as a stuntperson. Her previous career was as a professional road racer. The stunt required Ms Harris to forgo wearing a helmet. At this time, it is not known which character was being portrayed, but it is believed to be the mutant known as Domino. Canadian actor and Vancouver native Ryan Reynolds, who plays Deadpool, issued the following statement via Twitter: “Today, we tragically lost a member of our crew while filming Deadpool. We’re heartbroken, shocked, and devastated…. but recognize nothing can come close to the grief and inexplicable pain her family and loved ones must feel in this moment. My heart pours out to them –– along with each and every person she touched in this world.” Police are working with WorkSafeBC to investigate the accident and hopefully prevent future instances of similar occurrences. Deadpool 2 will be released in the United States and Canada June 1, 2018, and stars Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Josh Brolin as Cable, and Zazie Beetz as Domino. The movie is not currently rated, but is probably going to be rated R like the first film. Thank you for watching.
