Matthew comes from the Hebrew word Mattityahu, which means “gift of God” or “gift from God.” What we own now is not ours but a gift we should enjoy but must steward well. For us to receive such a G.I.F.T., we must heed Jesus’ words in today’s gospel reading. This is the 897th installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings.
