I have had this for a while now, and have spent a lot of time tweaking it to get it how I want it... Now, I think it is done :)... The Frame and Forks are dated October 1982. I think it is the same frame used for Motomag and Californian bikes (Cromoly rather than HiTen Steel), and feels very light compared to all my others. The chrome is immaculate, along with the dropouts, and the decals are all original, right down to the dealer's sticker (Alas, "Bikeland" in Wisconsin no longer exists :( ) It is hard to tell exactly which model these frames were back then as it was the transition time for BMX Products, tweaking the frames and components, etc. A year later they were produced in Taiwan, and lost the distinctive gusset (Info from www.vintagemongoose.com). My build is custom, as always...I have sourced most parts from the same period (!982-85) so it will be as we could of built one back then:). Parts (OG)... Hutch Bars. SR Stem. Landar locknut Headset, came with the fnf, marked "Motocross". Dia Compe 890 brake set (Calipers, Levers and pads), dated 83. Suntour Broken Arrow Seat Clamp Fluted post Viscount Aero seat. Ofmega 3 piece cranks, with sealed BB. Rat Trap pedals (Unknown brand) SR Chain ring 42T Black/Gold chain (Can't remember brand) Skyway Alloy hub Tuff IIs, Suntour Coaster brake. Comp III style tyres. Parts (Repop) Flite Padset. Mushroom Grips. Gold Cables. Inner tubes. I draw the line at using 40 year old inner tubes, they might go pop!!! I have checked out the BMX Products US website, and it states that my decals are "Motomag II"..
