Mozambique Ep4 Elephant Collaring Part 2 - "Ironvan" Adventures with Wild Wonderful World

Mozambique Ep4 Elephant Collaring Part 2 - "Ironvan" Adventures with Wild Wonderful World

We were heading to Maputo Special Reserve next to meet up with Dr Michelle Henley, CEO & Principal Researcher at Elephants Alive and Dr Lucy King, who heads up the Human-Elephant Co-Existence Program at Save The Elephants. Dr Lucy King is best known for her research on the use of honey bees as a natural deterrent for crop-raiding elephants. Together with the Mozambique Wildlife Alliance, they are working on an interesting project that aims to map the corridors of the elephant's use and identify areas where there is human-elephant conflict. By combining their respective experience working with elephants they are working hard to create a toolbox with the potential to manage the various situations and minimise conflict. The park is a gorgeous tapestry of coastal forest and grasslands with water berry trees, beaches and lakes, and the campsites are some of the nicest I have ever stayed at. The second collaring was a young, uncollared, elephant bull in MSR. This time it was much closer to the road and there was a rather large crowd present, but everything went perfectly according to plan and we could not have asked for a better ending to this epic trip. https://www.wildwonderfulworld.com/   / elephantsalive.southafrica   At Ironman 4x4, we are very passionate about 4 wheel driving.
