2026 C8 Corvette ZR1X Sets Nurburgring Track Record

The 12.92-mile track at Nürburgring is a tough customer indeed. It has earned the nickname “The Green Hell”. Corvette ZR1X set a new Nürburgring record time for an American production car of 6:49.275. Corvette ZR1 managed to set an impressive Nürburgring time of 6:50.763. Corvette Z06, with the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 in a production car, set a respectable 7:11.826. From the time the Mustang GTD was introduced it was destined to take on the Nürburgring record. The 815 hp Predator-based 5.2 Liter V8 engine redline exceeds 7,500 rpm. The 8-speed dual clutch rear-transaxle spreads the wealth. All of this brute power was finessed to bring the Mustang GTD to a Nürburgring record of 6:52.072. A very noble time. It was good then but has been blasted by the much less expensive Corvette ZR1 and ZR1X. Although it has been speculated that these times could have been as much as 10 seconds quicker by using professional drivers rather than Corvette engineering team members, this is amazing.
