Vocalist Barbara Hannigan and composer Hans Abrahamsen talked prior to a performance of Abrahamsen's 'let me tell you' about how they collaborated to bring the work to life and tailored it to Hannigan's voice. This excerpt is from the Boston Symphony Orchestra's annual Insights series, centering on Shakespeare to commemorate the 400-year anniversary of the Bard's death. As explained by librettist Paul Griffiths, the work, written for orchestra and soprano, tells the story of Ophelia from Hamlet using only the words that Shakespeare's character speaks in the original play.
