Jesus spoke of how, in his time, people would force their way into the Kingdom of God and seize it. What did he mean by that? Certainly not faintheartedness and procrastination. He was surely thinking of Joshua and the conquest of Canaan. One thing is certain: you don't receive what is promised to you, but what is promised to you AND you conquer. The faithful Caleb and his courageous daughter Achza are good examples of this.
