Monell hosted a panel discussion on April 28, 2020 on the partnership of patients and scientists in advancing smell loss research. This panel was originally scheduled as an in-person event, but as a result of the COVID pandemic became a virtual meeting instead. This panel recording includes a special section on the Global Consortium for Chemosensory Research. Although we may be physically distanced at this time, we are still very much engaged. Together with you, we are working to advance scientific knowledge about smell loss, build awareness about this vitally important public health issue, and contribute to worldwide health and well-being. This event was hosted (virtually) by the Monell Center, a world leader in taste and smell research. 0:00 – Intro & Welcome, Jenifer Trachtman, Director of Development, Monell Center 2:57 – Katie Boateng, Anosmia Patient Advocate 5:07 – Dr. Edmund Pribitkin, ENT-otolaryngologist and Chief Medical Officer at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital 22:45 – Torryn Brazell, CEO, American Tinnitus Association 40:46 – Christine Broderick, Engagement Officer, Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) 55:52 – Chrissi Kelly, Smell Loss Patient Advocate and Founder of AbScent.org 1:09:46 – Dr. Joel Mainland, Olfactory Neuroscientist, Monell Center, Presenting on conclusions from the Identifying Treatments for Taste and Smell Disorders (ITTSD) Conference 1:18:33 – Dr. Valentina Parma, Research Assistant Professor, Temple University, Presenting on the Global Consortium of Chemosensory Researchers' (GCCR) COVID-19 efforts 1:30:47 – Q&A session www.monell.org
