Liberia is an oral society. This means that Liberia’s history and life’s lessons are passed from one generation to another through story telling and not through a written means. Liberia also has a high illiteracy rate. Our mission has been looking for creative ways to reach illiterate people who live in Liberia’s oral society. We have a full time artist who works for us named Prince Kolley. Prince draws pictures for every lesson we teach. We are currently working on what we call a “Wordless Bible.” We are translating every verse in the book of Proverbs into pictures. We use these pictures to help people memorize the Bible word for word, chapter by chapter. For the illiterate, Prince’s pictures become their wordless Bible.
