Broken Nets, 12.28.25 AM || Alameda Church of Christ

In Luke 5:1–11, Jesus tells Peter to cast the nets again after a long, exhausting night of failure. Though doubtful, Peter obeys—and the result is overwhelming abundance: nets breaking, boats filling, and fear giving way to awe. This sermon explores how God’s provision often comes after obedience, even when logic, experience, and exhaustion tell us otherwise. Like Peter, we often say, “We’ve toiled all night,” yet Jesus invites us to trust Him beyond our understanding. When God fills the net, it’s not just about blessing—it’s about calling. Jesus’ final words, “Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men,” remind us that abundance is meant to transform us and redirect our lives toward His purpose.
