Here is our Day 3 video for Week 34 - What Are They Telling Me? This week of lessons includes four scenario videos that you can watch with your students Monday through Thursday with follow-up questions for class discussions and group activities. The kids can join Inspector Clue So-So on Friday as he tries to look for clues to figure out how the Puppet Pals are feeling. This week also includes a Simple Summary video in Spanish for students who are developing simple language skills, while focusing on the target social-emotional skill of the week. Communication plays a vital role in a child’s ability to interact with others and build relationships. We want them to use words to express their ideas and feelings, as well as be able to listen to what others are telling them. A huge part of communication is actually nonverbal, so it’s important to teach children to read the nonverbal signals that others are giving them. This week’s lesson is about paying attention to what others are telling us with their: Words, which also include the tone of voice Face and body language Actions Pictures, which can be an early form of written language. The Puppet Pals miss some important signals that their peers are giving them, but with a little guidance, they improve their social awareness by honing in on the subtle nuances of nonverbal communication. After your children watch the videos, they can try out some of these skills with others by trying to communicate, using their facial expressions, body posture, actions, and drawings. You can make a game out of teaching these important skills, which will help them as they learn to look, listen and understand others.
