Horizon Forbidden West is an action role-playing game developed by Guerrilla Games and released for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in February 2022. It is the sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn (2017) and continues the story of Aloy, a young hunter and archer in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by robotic creatures. The game is set in the distant future, where humanity is rebuilding after an extinction event caused by AI-controlled robotic creatures. The world has reverted to a tribal society, and nature is flourishing alongside these mechanical beasts. Aloy, the protagonist, sets out to explore the Forbidden West, a dangerous and uncharted region, in order to uncover the secrets of a mysterious signal threatening the world.
