BRIGHTER PRINT! A charming movie! But why are all the prints of this so dark? Well, Outer Galaxy Lounge has brightened it up so you can better see American Doughboys Weeler & Woolsey wreak comic havoc on WWI-era Paris, doing their best to stay AWOL from military service. Aiding and abetting them is the cute-as-a- button Dorothy Lee, with a Betty Boop voice and manner and some boss dancing chops. As a bonus, there's the great comic actress, Edna May Oliver. As an entry in the W&W filmography, this one usually falls somewhere in the middle, below such favorites as Diplomaniacs and Hips Hips Hooray, but I quite like this one a lot. As usual, W&W get in some sexual references that few other comedy teams could pull off at the time. One reason they hold up so well and have gotten popular again after decades of obscurity.
