5 Days for the Homeless: Students sleep on the streets to raise funds, awareness

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live on the streets? Every year, Concordia commerce students go beyond that mental exercise and actually sleep on the pavement outside the university’s Hall Building. During 5 Days for the Homeless, the group, along with students across the country, try to walk a mile in the shoes of an itinerant person in order to raise money for charity but also to gain perspective on the situation of those in need. “What we’re doing here is nothing compared to what it’s really like out there,” says Mackenzie Murray, the event’s organizer and a student at the John Molson School of Business. “We have a security guard watching over us, we have fresh warm cardboard (to sleep on) and we have body heat.
