Double Play: Two somewhat forgotten CBS shows. They both premiered in September 1995, and both were legal dramas the never made it to a second season. • 'Courthouse' starred Patricia Wettig as a no-nonsense judge in charge of a big-city courthouse falling into disrepair. It had enough interpersonal dramas for a full season of 'Peyton Place' but only 11 episodes were produced (CBS aired nine). This Deborah Joy Levine creation has a theme by Jay Gruska, who composed Levine's 'Lois and Clark' intro. The son-in-law of John Williams, Gruska was also a rock musician who penned a tune or two for Disneyland's 'outer space' rock group 'Halyx'. • 'John Grisham's The Client' came out just a year after the successful film adaptation. JoBeth Williams played the Susan Sarandon part and Ossie Davis reprised his film role as the Judge...for a while (other judges replaced him in the back half of the run). A two-hour pilot was followed by 20 episodes. The theme is by Steve Graziano, active in scoring trailers and commercials. 00:00 'Courthouse' opening titles. 00:47 'The Client' opening titles.
