Chocolate Dipped Sugar Cookie Hearts Recipe: 1 1/2 cups (190 g) all-purpose flour 3/4 cup (150 g) granulated sugar 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp baking soda 1/4 tsp salt 1/2 cup (113 g) unsalted butter, soft 1 egg, large, at room temperature 1/2 tsp vanilla bean paste (or extract) For the coating: white chocolate, melted red, pink, purple/lavender oil-based food coloring gels (or use candy melts in coordinating colors) Directions: Preheat oven to 350 F and grease the silicone mold with nonstick baking spray. Sift together the dry ingredients. In a separate bowl, cream the butter until slightly lightened and fluffy; add the egg and vanilla, and mix to combine. Add the dry ingredients and mix just until combined. Fill the mold's cavities 3/4 way with cookie dough; lightly press and smooth the top. (The dough can also be wrapped into kitchen plastic and refrigerated overnight and up to 7 days). Place the mold onto baking sheet and bake the cookies on the middle rack for 12-14 minutes until the edges are set and centers are still soft, cookies will continue baking while cooling in the mold. Once the baking cookies cooled to room temperature, place the mold with cookies into the freezer for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, melt and color the white chocolate (or candy melts). Remove the cookies and thoroughly wash and dry the mold. Fill the bottoms of the mold's cavities with melted chocolate or melts and top with the cookies. Freeze for 20-30 minutes before demolding.
