India’s rapidly expanding platform economy presents both opportunities and significant challenges, especially for women workers who experience unique vulnerabilities and forms of precarity. With the ILO moving towards globally binding standards on platform work and India’s legislative landscape evolving swiftly (Labour codes and state legislations), this conversation comes at a particularly important moment. The webinar, "Towards Gender Justice in India’s Platform Economy: Legislation, Inclusion, and Future Pathways", aims to discuss issues and concerns on these new developments from a gender and intersectional lens. It will also focus on the pathways for a gender just legal framework and policies which will enable more women to enter the gig economy. The discussion from this webinar will be developed into a think piece on the issue. This webinar convenes researchers, policymakers, legal experts, labour practitioners, and worker representatives.
