Hello YouTube American signal crayfish were introduced to British waterways in the 1970's and quickly began to eliminate the native white clawed crayfish as they carry a disease which is fatal to the white claw. As well as eating pretty much anything they find including themselves occasionally they also damage rivers by burrowing into the banks speeding up erosion and silting the water. Because they are non native and are so destructive the Environment Agency deems them a pest and it is legal to trap them all year long, you can apply for a free license here; https://www.gov.uk/guidance/permissio... This is the UK legal trap I used; https://amzn.to/3Awcw0F Please note this is an affiliate link and as an Amazon Associate I may earn from qualifying purchases on this link but you will not be charged any extra, I have not been paid to review this product Some people leave them in water for a couple of days to purge their digestive tract but I prefer to minimise any potential distress by humanely dispatching them and removing their gut before cooking by boiling or grilling. Basically they're like free mini lobsters that have infested our rivers, easy to catch and dress I highly recommend you give it a try.
