Riffing on Joplin, "The Easy Winners"

When Andrew Barrett and Martin Spitznagel sat down to play together for the first time, this was the second thing they played. Without rehearsal, they're just making up a two-piano rendition on the spot, so it's easy to get lost like happens once, but it's not a concert -- just a fun time -- so who cares? This was after-hours Friday night / early Saturday at th 2008 West Coast Ragtime Festival. The tune is, of course, The Easy Winners, one of Scott Joplin's early rags, from 1901. Andrew, on the 9-foot concert grand, is from southern California; Martin lives in Virginia and was making his first appearance on the West Coast that weekend. ...the first of many, we hope!
