The sky of Virginia was illuminated by the deep red hue of the 'Blood Moon' that emerged during a total lunar eclipse into Friday morning. Footage shows the moon's transformation throughout various phases of the phenomenon, as it was seen half covered by the Earth's shadow and turning red due to the sunlights that passed through the shadow's edges. When the Earth falls exactly between the sun and the moon, it blocks sunlight and creates a shadow on the moon's surface, causing a lunar eclipse. The Friday blood moon could be observed from the majority of the Western Hemisphere, with the North and South America especially being able to catch the whole process of the phenomenon. The latest blood moon came on November 8, 2022. The next one is anticipated to occur on September 7–8, and will be observable in parts of Europe, Africa, Australia, and Asia.
