YJ Zhilong Mini 4x4 Solves+ Written Review

Thanks YJ for sending this amazing cube to me. Even though the 4x4 is 56mm, same size as Gan 3x3, it doesn't feel like it is that small. It feels very comfortable in my hands. Out of the box it is fast, light, smooth and crunchy. It feels like the YJ MGC4. I enjoy solving on this cube very much. The default tension is a bit loose. One huge downside to this puzzle is the popping issues. I am not an expert of cube designing, but the smaller size makes the cube pop sometimes during the solves, which is quite annoying. To tackle the above issues, here are my setups: -tightened by 1/2 turns -- it still pops often, you may have to tighten more but the corner cutting would become worse and the cube would be more blocky -lube with weight 5 -- the cube is insanely fast and smooth, adding weight 5 could make it more controllable. Note that you have to clean all the factory lube as they are bad -breakins -- it becomes better since then I like this cube, but the cube could be much better. It has reached a flagship level, but I believe YJ could make a better one which has fewer pops(I think MGC4 does pop sometimes as well), that could be fixed by designing or make the cube slightly larger. I have got some amazingly fast singles, but inconsistently sub32 averages. Also have to mention that OLL parity on this cube is insane. I believe this cube suits minority of people who has small hands, but YJ should consider making something slightly larger, like the size of the Zhilong Mini 5x5. I would say this cube is my backup main right now.
